With a strong commitment to quality ingredients and exceptional guest service, Pei Wei has built a reputation for delivering flavorful dishes that cater to a variety of tastes and dietary preferences. The company operates numerous locations across the United States and focuses on creating a positive dining experience through efficient operations and a welcoming atmosphere for guests. Pei Wei is dedicated to fostering a culture of teamwork, leadership development, and continuous improvement among its staff, ensuring every restaurant location maintains high standards of food safety, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence.

The Shift Leader role at Pei Wei Asian Kitchen is a pivotal position within the restaurant management team, responsible for supporting the restaurant's success by assisting the management team and leading the restaurant during shifts. Shift Leaders share the responsibility of training and guiding team members, ensuring that the restaurant operates smoothly from guest service to kitchen execution. They must be skilled in both front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house operations and possess the capacity to understand and utilize back-office systems effectively. This leadership role requires confidence and the ability to lead the team in the absence of management, promoting best practices and maintaining standards in food safety, guest interaction, and overall restaurant operations.

Shift Leaders at Pei Wei are certified or trained in culinary and front-of-the-house operations and are adept at coaching and verifying daily tasks. They act as role models in behaviors, dress, and guest interaction, leading by example to foster a positive work environment and exceptional guest experiences. Their duties include effective communication with team members, management, and regional support organizations, as well as overseeing administrative tasks such as scheduling, cash handling, reporting, and inventory management. They play an active role in onboarding and training new employees, ensuring all team members adhere to Pei Wei's health and safety standards, including proper food handling procedures.

The role also involves addressing guest relations and coaching the team to enhance customer satisfaction. Shift Leaders must promptly escalate employee relations or guest service issues to the general manager to ensure they are resolved effectively. Participation in store manager meetings and contributing to team performance improvements are also key aspects of this position. Successful candidates are energetic, action-oriented, and passionate about team success, able to maintain high standards and performance even in the absence of direct leadership.

Working conditions for Shift Leaders at Pei Wei require the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, handle physical tasks such as reaching, bending, balancing, and transporting objects up to 30 pounds, and maintain sensory accuracy with corrected vision and hearing. This role is ideal for individuals seeking to develop their leadership skills in a fast-paced restaurant environment and who are committed to upholding Pei Wei's values of quality, teamwork, and guest satisfaction.
