Pei Wei Asian Diner is a fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in Asian-inspired dishes made with fresh ingredients and bold flavors. The Assistant Manager at Pei Wei plays a critical role in the day-to-day management and leadership of the restaurant, reporting directly to the General Manager. This position requires a proactive and self-motivated leader who can independently handle various operational aspects of both the dining room and kitchen to meet Pei Wei's established operational standards. The Assistant Manager acts as the primary point of contact and assumes full leadership responsibility in the absence of the General Manager. Key responsibilities include ensuring excellent guest service, maintaining state safety and sanitation guidelines, overseeing food quality and timely production, supervising training and operations, and assisting in financial performance management through partnership with the General Manager. This role also involves employee coaching, development, recruitment, and sustaining a safe and respectful work environment.
Additionally, the Assistant Manager is responsible for maintaining all product quality standards by performing regular line checks and completing necessary inventories and prep lists. They are expected to support business goals related to food costs, labor management, and employee retention while managing repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure smooth restaurant operations. Tactical responsibilities include placing and managing orders for supplies and merchandise and assisting with sales forecasting and scheduling to optimize labor and operational efficiency. This position demands strong communication skills, the ability to lead and inspire a team, sound decision-making, and a focus on continuous improvement, making it essential for the ongoing success of the restaurant.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 2 years management experience for external candidates
- 1 year Pei Wei management experience or 6 months Pei Wei management experience plus 1 year previous restaurant management experience for internal candidates
- ability to reach, bend, balance, and transport up to 30 lbs during shift
- able to stand and walk for eight to ten hours per shift
- strong decision-making skills
- good judgment
- completion of FOH and BOH certifications
- ability to train team members in all positions
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Handle guest service issues professionally and with composure
- foster a safe, respectful, and quality employee experience
- partner with the General Manager to identify and address opportunities to improve business results using the profit and loss statement
- ensure compliance with all state safety and sanitation guidelines
- ensure proper timing and production of all food orders
- supervise and facilitate training for food preparation and execution of menu items, procedures, and recipes
- maintain all product quality standards by performing regular line checks
- complete all prep lists, order guides, and cost and food inventories
- support business goals including food costs, labor, and team member retention
- supervise, assign, and delegate tasks while giving direction to all staff and management
- assist the General Manager in recruiting, hiring, and training
- act as a goodwill ambassador to the community
- manage regular repairs and maintenance of the restaurant
- assist in development of other managers and shift leaders
- proficiently place all restaurant orders
- partner with the General Manager to forecast sales and develop appropriate schedules
