The Assistant Manager role at Pei Wei is a pivotal leadership position that reports directly to the General Manager. The ability to manage costs effectively while delivering a top-notch customer experience is vital to this position.
Furthermore, the Assistant Manager is responsible for coaching and developing team members, including other managers and shift leaders, to strengthen the leadership bench within the restaurant. This leadership extends to acting as a goodwill ambassador within the community, representing Pei Wei positively and building strong customer relationships. The role also includes responsibilities for routine maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the restaurant remains in excellent condition.

Job Requirements
- Two years management experience for external candidates
- One year Pei Wei Manager experience or six months Pei Wei Manager experience plus one year previous restaurant management experience for internal candidates
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to reach, bend, balance, and transport objects up to 30 lbs during a shift
- Ability to stand and walk for eight to ten hours during a shift
- Strong decision-making skills
- Adaptability and willingness to learn
- Ability to train and coach team members
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Ability to manage both front of house and back of house operations
Job Qualifications
- Two years of management experience for external candidates
- One year of Pei Wei Manager experience or six months Pei Wei Manager experience plus one year previous restaurant management experience for internal candidates
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to apply data and experience for fact-based decisions
- Ability to make timely decisions that balance urgency with long-term impact

- Experience in training team members in both front of house and back of house positions

Job Duties
- Handle guest service issues professionally and with composure
- Foster a safe, respectful, and quality employee experience
- Partner with the General Manager to identify and address opportunities to increase business results using the profit and loss statement
- Follow and execute all state safety and sanitation guidelines
- Ensure proper timing and production of all food orders
- Supervise and facilitate training of food preparation and execution of all menu items, procedures, and recipes
- Maintain product quality standards by performing regular line checks
- Complete all prep lists, order guides, and cost and food inventories
- Support business goals including food costs, labor, and team member retention
- Supervise, assign, and delegate tasks to staff and other management members
- Assist the General Manager in recruiting, hiring, and training
- Act as a goodwill ambassador to the Pei Wei community
- Oversee regular repairs and maintenance of the restaurant
- Assist the General Manager in developing other managers and shift leaders
- Place all restaurant orders including Coke, DSI, Ed
- Partner with the General Manager to forecast sales and develop staffing schedules to meet business demands and labor goals
