Job Requirements
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 2500 total flight hours with at least 2000 in category
- Minimum 1000 hours pilot-in-command (PIC) in category
- Minimum 500 hours cross-country flight time, including at least 100 hours at night
- Minimum 500 hours turbine time
- Minimum 100 hours unaided night as PIC
- Minimum 100 hours total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category
- Pilots must maintain weight not exceeding 250 pounds
- Age less than seventy years
- Comply with DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing requirements
Job Qualifications
- Commercial and instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
- ATP rating in category meets this requirement
- First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate
- Pilots must have flown in category for a commercial operator or military in the previous 24 months
- Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft and medical systems operations
- Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
- Experience operating Air Methods’ aircraft preferred
- Demonstrated ability to conduct flight planning under pressure
Job Duties
- Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
- Complete pre-flight inspections verifying aircraft airworthiness and sign off Daily Flight Log
- Conduct thorough walk-around inspections before and after each flight
- Exercise final authority over aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
- Ensure familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems including backup aircraft and assist medical teams’ comfort with medical interiors
- Complete all required documentation accurately and timely
- Conduct detailed and precise flight planning often on short notice
- Participate regularly in company meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach
