The role of a PBX Operator at Texas Health Resources is a vital position within a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment located at 8160 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, Texas, in the Perot Building's Lower Level. This position operates in a hybrid work environment requiring flexible attendance in the office as needed. The work schedule is full-time, from Friday to Monday, 7 am to 5:30 pm. The PBX Operator serves as the first point of contact for incoming calls to the hospital switchboard, ensuring timely and accurate call routing to the correct departments or individuals. The operator is responsible for answering basic questions about telephone system operations, transferring calls to appropriate departments for assistance, and using overhead paging to locate physicians or communicate approved information to employees and visitors. Documentation of all page requests is maintained through automated or manual methods to ensure accurate records.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience as a dispatcher communication specialist customer service representative or similar position in a communication or dispatch center
  • Ability to work full time Friday to Monday 7 am to 5 30 pm
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with in-office presence as needed
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Capability to operate multi-line phone systems
  • Experience in a fast-paced high-volume environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience as a dispatcher communication specialist customer service representative or similar position in a communication or dispatch center
  • Two years of hospital experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Answer incoming calls to the hospital switchboard in a timely manner directing calls to the correct location or assisting with needed phone numbers
  • Answer questions regarding basic operation of telephone system
  • Transfer calls to appropriate departments for problem resolution as needed
  • Perform overhead pages to locate physicians and relay approved information to employees and visitors
  • Document all page requests automatically or manually using written records
  • Operate and maintain a web-based, multi-line, high-tech phone system
  • Execute emergency alerts and provide problem-solving support
