Memorial Healthcare System is currently seeking a Patient Transporter to join its team. This role is vital in ensuring the seamless movement of patients and equipment throughout the facility, contributing significantly to patient care and operational efficiency. The Patient Transporter will be part of a team that supports the critical day-to-day functions within the hospital setting, assisting patients with mobility, transferring patients safely between different departments, and helping in logistical operations. This job requires strong accountability, excellent customer service skills, and an ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision. The role also involves assisting with lift assists, repositioning patients, transferring patients with special equipment such as oxygen tanks and IV pumps, and supporting staff during the removal and transfer of deceased bodies.
The position offers a day shift schedule and requires physical stamina due to the nature of the duties which involve significant bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and walking throughout the facility. It demands critical thinking and effective communication skills to ensure patient safety and respond promptly to changing situations within the healthcare environment. The Patient Transporter must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Job Duties
- Assists staff with lift assists and repositioning of patients when needed
- assists patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers
- delivers equipment to requesting staff or department
- assists staff with removal of deceased bodies from units and transport to morgue
- greets and provides information and direction to patients and visitors
- transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher, bed or neuro chair to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors, and other equipment
