Saint Luke's Hospital at the Plaza is currently seeking a Patient Transporter to join its team on a full-time basis. This role is crucial in ensuring patients are safely and efficiently moved throughout the hospital using wheelchairs or other transport devices. The Patient Transporter works through manual or computerized job assignments and liaises closely with clinical nursing staff to coordinate patient movements effectively. Safety and infection prevention are central to this position as it requires careful handling and attention to protective measures involving patients’ tubes, lines, and collection devices. In addition to transporting patients, the Patient Transporter also manages the movement of patient valuables and medical equipment within designated hospital areas.
The position entails working 40 hours per week on various shifts, including Monday through Friday and weekend and holiday rotations, emphasizing the need for flexibility and adherence to exact work schedules. Job Requirements
- Less than 1 year of relevant experience
- Must be able to work assigned schedules including weekends and holidays
- Physical ability to move patients and equipment
- Ability to work full-time 40 hours per week
- Commitment to patient safety and infection control
- Reliable and punctual
- Willingness to take direction and ask for help when needed
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good communication skills
