Job Requirements
- Four-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum two years nursing experience in critical care or emergency department
- Current Texas professional nursing license
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Certified Flight Communicator with one year of experience
- FEMA ICS 100 and 200 certifications
- Preferred paramedic or EMT licensure or certification

- At least two years of nursing experience in critical care or emergency department

- Current professional nursing license in Texas
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Certified Flight Communicator with at least one year of experience
- Preferred licensure or certification as paramedic or EMT
Job Duties
- Provide oversight for all clinical escalations and notify Access Center Medical Director as appropriate
- Manage system level bed capacity and triage patient needs for ICU and complex admissions
- Facilitate daily shift huddles for bed management including physician and Access Center huddles
- Escalate capacity constraints or concerns to Access Center leadership and Medical Director
- Apply clinical expertise to triage and prioritize referrals collaboratively with Access Center staff
- Follow policies and guidelines for patient referrals and transport team requests
- Coordinate correct team configurations, transport modes, and equipment based on patient acuity
- Complete rapid assessments for appropriate consulting physician contact and escalate for Medical Director evaluation when needed
- Author and distribute twelve-hour reports
- Track and resolve referral delays
- Monitor system-wide bed capacity and assist communication specialists during bed alerts
- Support transport staff with problem solving and conflict resolution
- Promote educational efforts and provide staff training materials
- Audit intake calls and participate in call reviews to identify improvements
- Review Safelink reports related to the Access Center
- Identify and resolve barriers for complex transports and facilitate team huddles at shift start
- Utilize crisis incident stress management for staff debriefings
- Ensure thorough hand-off communications between shifts to maintain safe operations and service continuity
