This position primarily involves transportation support for patients and medical equipment as well as providing one-on-one patient observation and sitter duties. Responsibilities include preparing and assisting patients with safe transport within the hospital, ensuring adherence to proper lifting techniques and individualized patient needs. Additionally, the position requires the transportation and delivery of patient equipment, supplies, specimens, cultures, and blood samples, both routine and STAT, to appropriate hospital departments. An important aspect of the job is the identification and reporting of broken or damaged equipment and ensuring contaminated items are safely transported to Central Supply for decontamination.

Furthermore, the role includes providing dedicated one-to-one observation for patients under the direction of nursing staff, with documentation of care services rendered. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school or GED equivalent

Job Duties

  • Prepares and assists patient for transportation with clinical staff consistent with Safe Patient and Family Centered model
  • picks up and delivers patient equipment and supplies including repair and maintenance items
  • identifies broken and damaged equipment and reports according to procedure
  • transports contaminated items to Central Supply for decontamination
  • delivers and picks up specimens, cultures, and blood samples from patient care areas STAT and routine
  • provides 1:1 observation and patient care as assigned under nursing direction and documents care provided
  • follows through to address customer concerns and needs
  • identifies and reports patient, visitor, and employee safety concerns
