Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of 9-month medical career college program focusing on front office duties or Medical Assistant degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in medical office receptionist, patient access or medical scheduler role preferred
- Background in primary care or specialty physician office setting desirable
- Strong customer service orientation
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment
- Reliable and good attendance record
- Fluent in English reading, writing, and speaking
- Ability to follow management directives and perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 9-month program in medical career college focused on front office duties and/or Medical Assistant degree preferred
- 2 plus years experience in medical office receptionist, patient access, or medical scheduler preferred
- Experience in primary care or specialty physician office setting preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities, and function well under stress
- Effective communication and decision-making skills
- Ability to maintain good working relationships within the department and with other departments
- Must read, write, and speak fluent English
Job Duties
- Greet patients as they arrive at the clinic
- Check patients in and complete the intake process including insurance verification and updating demographic information
- Perform electronic chart pre-load process
- Scan documents to the patient electronic chart
- Collect and post co-pays and other monies due from the patient at time of service for current and past-due balances
- Answer phone calls and take necessary action including Athena messages and overhead triage pages
- Perform daily opening and closing procedures including rolling telephones and generating morning close-out as needed
- Create, modify, and cancel patient appointments
- Document requests for medication refills in Athena
- Manage medical records in both hard-copy and electronic formats
- Multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Communicate effectively and pleasantly with patients and team members
- Participate in orientation, instruction, and training of new personnel
- Follow management directives
- Perform other related duties as assigned
