The Patient Services Associate role at Jersey City Medical Center is an essential position within the Visitor Representative department, tasked with delivering exceptional reception, clerical, and concierge services to patients accessing outpatient services. This per diem evening shift position offers an hourly wage of $18.30 and involves creating a welcoming, efficient environment where patients and their families receive prompt assistance and clear guidance. The incumbent plays a key role in coordinating patient access, ensuring smooth processing, and assisting with paperwork to facilitate a seamless care experience. Additionally, the Patient Services Associate often serves as the first point of contact, answering patient inquiries, managing phone communications, and collaborating with various clinical and administrative teams to optimize patient flow and satisfaction.
Beyond processing registrations and scheduling support, this role demands regular rounds within the outpatient pavilion to maintain high environmental standards and proactively address any issues affecting patient comfort and facility readiness. Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- at least 3-5 years in patient relations or similar background
- ability to work evening shifts
- availability for per diem, as needed
- excellent communication skills

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Answers patient questions and assists with phone calls and patient issues at the reception desk
- assigns volunteers to accompany patients who require assistance moving throughout the building
- assists the patient with the completion of all necessary paperwork
- communicates with Patient Services Manager and/or applicable ancillary department supervisors to identify patient status and collaborates on steps needed to adjust to patient volumes
- conducts continual rounds in the Outpatient Pavilion
- intervenes when necessary, abating deficiencies to insure the environmental readiness of these areas (trash, cleanliness, etc
- enters walk-in patients into AHIQA System, IDS, and/or Affinity
- frequently checks the status of technical areas regarding Wait Times in order to keep patient informed
- informs patient of the registration process and provides estimated time it will take for them to be seen
- insures that department policies, rules, and regulations for visitors, volunteers, and employees related to visitor control and customer service is appropriately adhered to
- offers to assist patients in reaching their destination and to provide appropriate patient information and directions
- receives and greets patients and visitors upon arrival to the hospital
- provides orientation to the facility, and directs patients to the appropriate service area
- responds to and resolves any patient satisfaction/customer service issues referring to the appropriate Department/Supervisor or Department of Patient Satisfaction for resolution/investigation when necessary
- verifies patient prescription and refers the patient to appropriate registration/service area
