- proficiency in computer use including MS Office
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
- previous exposure to healthcare field and familiarity with medical terminology

- familiarity with medical terminology and procedures (preferred)
- experience working with an EMR (preferred)
- knowledge of FQHC operations including sliding fee scales and community health programs (preferred)
- proficiency in one or more languages such as Arabic, Urdu, Rohingya, Hindi, Malay, Burmese, Spanish (preferred)
- 1-2 years experience as a PSR, receptionist, or similar front desk medical position (preferred)
- college degree (preferred)
Job Duties
- Greeting and welcoming all visitors to MCHC, greet visitors, ascertain purpose of visit, and direct them to appropriate staff
- Patient check-in and check-out: greet patients warmly, verify demographic and insurance information, collect co-pays, and ensure proper documentation in Epic EMR
- Answering telephones and directing calls to appropriate MCHC staff or clinicians
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using Epic EMR
- Provide visitors and callers with information about MCHC and its resources
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence between departments and outside contacts
- Perform clerical duties including copying, faxing, filing, and paperwork
- Operate office equipment like voice mail, computers, and spreadsheets to prepare letters and medical records
- Interview patients to complete forms such as intake or insurance documentation
- Maintain medical records and ensure accurate data entry in compliance with HIPAA and FQHC standards
- Assist with billing and collections such as processing payments, preparing financial statements, and collecting fees
- Coordinate with clinical teams to ensure seamless patient care and communication
