Job Requirements
- High school diploma required
- minimum two years of relevant experience
- proficiency in managing payments and cash reconciliation
- knowledge of managed care practices
- experience with appointment scheduling software
- ability to use computer applications including email and word processing
- familiarity with practice management and EHR systems
- capacity to manage stressful situations professionally
- physical ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
- occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds
- adherence to HIPAA and compliance guidelines
- ability to maintain confidentiality and patient data security
Job Qualifications
- Minimum two years of experience in a medical office or customer service position
- proven success in asking for payment and balancing cash drawer
- working knowledge of basic managed care terminology and practices
- familiarity with appointment scheduling and rearranging
- comfortable using email, word processing, and internet applications
- working knowledge of practice management and electronic health record software, preferably GE Centricity
- proven experience handling challenging customers and conflict
- ability to multitask accurately and efficiently
- neat professional appearance
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- bilingual is a plus
Job Duties
- Answers the telephone professionally and pleasantly
- screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information from patients and vendors
- maintains office equipment and supplies in the front office area
- ensures faxes are cleared and distributed throughout the day
- opens, date stamps, and delivers mail daily
- assembles files and maintains patient chart integrity
- runs reports and prepares patient encounters for the next day
- keeps reception area neat and clean
- schedules patient appointments and explains pre-appointment requirements
- greets patients and ensures registration paperwork is complete
- verifies demographic and insurance information
- collects payments and provides receipts
- posts charges and balances daily transactions
- closes the office according to protocol
- refers uncollectible balances to Practice Manager
- assists in other front office duties as requested
