The Patient Concierge role at St. Luke’s goes beyond traditional administrative support by serving as a passionate patient advocate who enhances the overall patient experience. The Patient Concierge manages various practice-based administrative and patient support tasks, ensuring every patient interaction is handled with politeness, promptness, and compassion. This role includes a broad range of responsibilities such as patient check-in and check-out processes, real-time eligibility verification, patient consent collection, appointment scheduling, and education regarding the use of MyChart services.

In this role, the Patient Concierge also delivers exceptional waiting room concierge services, supports patients with kiosk check-in, and helps maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of the practice environment. Additional duties involve processing mail and deliveries, managing cash transactions, responding to in-basket clerical messages, and collaborating with the Access Center and care teams to address time-sensitive patient and clinical inquiries. This position requires a solution-oriented mindset to anticipate and meet patient needs creatively. Physical demands include extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as occasional lifting and pushing. The role requires excellent communication skills, a compassionate demeanor, and the ability to listen and express empathy effectively.

The Patient Concierge position typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with preference given to candidates who have completed administrative training programs and who possess prior practice-based or healthcare customer service experience. Strong competencies in communication, compliance, time management, and patient-focused service are essential. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year practice-based or similar healthcare experience preferred
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively

  • Physical ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally

Job Duties

  • Engages patients in a polite, prompt, and compassionate manner during all practice-based patient interactions
  • Performs clerical service delivery functions with patients including check-in, patient consent, check-out, pre-registration and real-time eligibility verification, registration, MyChart education, appointment/testing scheduling at check-out, point of service payment collection, and addressing patient inquiries
  • Delivers waiting room concierge service and provides hands-on support to patients utilizing the kiosk check-in process
  • Facilitates practice opening and closing procedures, maintenance of practice cleanliness, processing of incoming mail and deliveries, cash management and reconciliation, and prompt scanning and indexing incoming faxes
  • Supports other practice-based team members by promptly addressing in-basket clerical pool messages
  • Partners with Access Center Patient Engagement Partners to address time-sensitive scheduling requests
  • Promptly facilitates connection from Access Center Clinical Triage Specialists to practice-based care team members for time-sensitive clinical inquiries
  • Maintains a solution-oriented and creative mindset to effectively anticipate and tend to patient needs by partnering with other organizational team members and departments
