Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum six months experience as Patient & Family Concierge or equivalent
- Competency in all Patient & Family Concierge responsibilities
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Completion of one annual contribution such as departmental projects or committee participation
- Valid Act 34 clearance
- Compassionate and driven to provide exceptional patient and family experience
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to serve a variety of hospital needs
- Adherence to hospital safety and confidentiality policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months of experience as a Patient & Family Concierge or similar role
- Demonstrated competency in all responsibilities of a Patient & Family Concierge
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of hospital policies and patient confidentiality protocols
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
- Commitment to customer service excellence
- Completion of annual contributions such as committee participation or peer interviewing preferred
Job Duties
- Greet patients and families warmly and provide direction and escort assistance to visitors and patients
- Disseminate patient information to visitors appropriately while respecting confidentiality
- Serve as a reference for visiting hours, directions, package delivery, and hospital policies
- Issue courtesy parking discounts, free passes, and patient scooters as needed
- Assist with parking cashier functions and validate patient parking
- Clean and organize assigned areas including patient rooms, public spaces, and equipment
- Replenish supplies and change bed linens following established procedures
- Assemble and serve meals according to diet orders and maintain food safety standards
- Transport patients, equipment, and lab specimens safely and timely across hospital units
- Perform inspections and disinfect transport equipment and maintain records
- Order, organize, deliver, and stock supplies and equipment for patient units
- Maintain inventory and monitor expiration dates in collaboration with supply chain management
- Complete department administrative functions including scheduling, communication, and documentation
- Monitor telehealth consult carts, facilitate telemedicine visits, and perform routine testing
- Adhere to hand hygiene, infection control procedures, and hospital policies consistently
- Exhibit UPMC values and practice key patient experience behaviors such as AIDET
- Perform other duties as assigned supporting hospital operations and patient care
