Job Description
UPMC is a renowned healthcare provider known for its commitment to delivering excellent patient care through its network of hospitals and specialized healthcare facilities. As one of the leading health systems, UPMC is dedicated to advancing medical treatment and enhancing patient experiences through innovation and compassionate service. This established hospital network prioritizes quality and efficiency in healthcare delivery, making it a trusted name in the industry. UPMC Emergency Department is actively seeking a Patient & Family Concierge (PFC) to join their dynamic team and contribute to the seamless operation of one of its critical care units.
The Patient & Family Concierge plays a vital role in supporting the Emergency Department by ensuring smooth patient throughput and providing crucial assistance to both patients and their families during intense and often emotional moments. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced and high-impact setting, offering an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in emergency care environments. The role involves a variety of responsibilities, from welcoming and orienting patients and visitors to supporting daily unit operations through logistical and organizational tasks.
This position requires flexibility, with variable scheduling that prominently features evening and night shifts, including 8- or 12-hour rotations starting at different times throughout the day. Rotating weekends and holidays are also part of the schedule. Importantly, this role does not require on-call duties, floating assignments, or travel, providing a consistent workplace environment. Applicants who enjoy working in vibrant, ever-changing healthcare settings and who possess a strong desire to assist others will find this role particularly rewarding. The Patient & Family Concierge is essential in fostering a compassionate atmosphere and enhancing the overall patient and family experience in the Emergency Department, making them a key member of the caregiving team.
