Job Description
Sanford Health is one of the largest and fastest-growing not-for-profit health systems in the United States. With nearly 50,000 employees, Sanford Health is dedicated to the core values of health and healing, providing exceptional healthcare services across a broad geographic footprint. The organization is committed to fostering a work environment that supports professional development and career advancement opportunities for all members of the Sanford Family. Known for its innovative approaches and comprehensive care strategies, Sanford Health offers a dynamic and supportive workplace aimed at improving the health and wellness of communities it serves.
The role of Patient Access Representative at Sanford Health is a critical position within the healthcare system. This full-time position involves working an 8-hour day shift from Monday through Friday, with no weekend or holiday work required, making it an ideal role for individuals seeking a stable schedule. The starting salary range is between $16.25 and $23.00 per hour. As a Patient Access Representative, you will be the initial point of contact for patients arriving at various clinic locations, focusing on efficient scheduling, checking in patients, and providing exceptional customer service. The position requires adaptability, as representatives may work at different clinic sites to meet organizational needs.
Key responsibilities include greeting patients, verifying their demographics, managing patient documents, and establishing financial responsibilities while adhering to Sanford Health's policies. The role also involves collecting co-payments, handling insurance-related registration errors, and facilitating pre-authorizations for referrals. Patient Access Representatives work closely with nursing teams and providers to coordinate appointments and ensure patient needs are met promptly and accurately.
In addition to registration and scheduling, the job entails supporting various administrative tasks such as organizing provider documents, collaborating on patient financial assistance, managing patient records, and coordinating telemedicine appointments. The role demands a high level of professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate multi-line phones and serve as a switchboard operator when necessary.
Sanford Health values candidates with at least a high school diploma or equivalent, though post-secondary education is beneficial. Experience in medical office settings, familiarity with medical terminology, and strong customer service skills are preferred. Some locations may require Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a compassionate and growing healthcare team while developing valuable skills in patient access and healthcare administration. Sanford Health is committed to equal opportunity employment and provides reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities throughout the application process.
