As a Front Desk Receptionist at Hanger, Inc., you will play a crucial role in shaping the initial patient experience by managing front office operations smoothly and efficiently. This role involves being the welcoming face of the clinic, greeting patients, handling inquiries, coordinating appointments, and facilitating communication between patients, staff, and referral sources. Your responsibilities also include verifying patient information, managing front desk financial transactions like collecting copays and deductibles, and supporting administrative efforts to maintain accurate patient records. You will collaborate closely with the Revenue Cycle Management team to ensure all necessary patient data is collected timely and comprehensively.

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in customer service or front desk reception, ideally within a medical setting, and must be comfortable using various computer software and office equipment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential along with the ability to type at least 30 words per minute with accuracy. Additional qualities such as acting with integrity, maintaining patient trust, and fostering collaboration are highly valued. Candidates should be comfortable working with disabled individuals and have an understanding of alpha filing systems and medical terminology related to front office operations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • less than one year of customer service, administrative or related experience required
  • experience in a receptionist position or experience with medical front office procedures preferred
  • valid driver’s license or eligibility to obtain one with driving record meeting Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to key 30 words per minute with accuracy
  • ability to use a computer and related office equipment
  • ability to work with handicapped individuals
  • understanding of alpha filing system
  • act with integrity and maintain confidentiality
  • willingness to complete Talent Sorter assessment if requested

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • be at minimum a good fit for the job, as determined by the Talent Sorter assessment preferred
  • less than one year of customer service, administrative or related experience
  • experience in a receptionist position or experience with medical front office procedures preferred
  • strong interpersonal, oral (including telephone) and written communication skills
  • ability to key 30 words per minute with accuracy
  • ability to work with handicapped individuals
  • understanding of Alpha filing system
  • understanding of medical reimbursement and terminology and an understanding of front office (receptionist) duties preferred
  • ability to use a computer, including Windows-based software and e-mail
  • ability to use all necessary office equipment, facsimile machines, calculator, postage machine, copier, etc.

Job Duties

  • Greet and assist patients upon arrival, providing information on wait times and addressing inquiries at the front desk or reception area
  • verify and update patient demographics and insurance details during check-in
  • handle walk-in registrations
  • collect patient payments, including deductibles, copays, and co-insurance at the front desk
  • coordinate follow-up appointments, including cast and measure, delivery, and prosthetic care plans
  • serve as a liaison for clinic services, offering information on patient experience programs, support groups, and other resources
  • collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Management team to obtain necessary patient information
  • ensure accurate and complete electronic health records for all patients
