Job Description

Cherokee Town & Country Club, chartered in 1956, stands as one of America's premier private clubs, offering an exceptional blend of tradition, exclusivity, and high-quality member services. Located in the prestigious areas of Buckhead and Sandy Springs, the club boasts two distinct facilities: the Town Club situated on the historic Grant Estate on West Paces Ferry Road, and the Country Club near the scenic Chattahoochee River. Over the decades, Cherokee Town & Country Club has garnered multiple honors and awards, reflecting its unwavering dedication to excellence in dining and service. The club prides itself on fostering a positive and proactive work culture that encourages the philosophy of 'What can I do? How can I help?' This attitude, collectively known as the 'Cherokee Standard,' underscores the high expectations set for every staff member. The club cherishes its employees, recognizing their hard work and commitment with a supportive environment, competitive wages, and attractive perks.

The role of Pastry Sous Chef at Cherokee Town & Country Club is a vital position within the culinary team, working closely under the Executive Pastry Chef to oversee the preparation and production of all pastry-related offerings including breads, desserts, pastries, and decorative pieces. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience, along with excellent benefits and perks that contribute to a balanced and rewarding work life.

In this role, the Pastry Sous Chef assumes full responsibility for the pastry shop operations during the absence of the Executive Pastry Chef, reporting directly to the Executive Chef when required. The chef is entrusted with ensuring that all pastry products meet the highest standards of quality, presentation, and taste to consistently satisfy club members. This demanding role requires maintaining uniform production standards across various departments including breads, banquet desserts, pastry carts, and general pastry production. The Pastry Sous Chef must also apply advanced decoration techniques, integrate current industry trends, and uphold strict sanitation and food safety practices.

Beyond the creative culinary aspect, the Pastry Sous Chef plays a crucial role in managing day-to-day operations such as organizing recipe files, decorating templates, planning inventory, and overseeing daily pastry cart offerings and menu specials. Leadership responsibilities further extend to training new employees and stewards, conducting team meetings to maintain consistency and hygiene, and evaluating team members to foster professional growth. This position requires strong communication skills to coordinate with banquet staff, managers, and service teams, ensuring timely and elegant delivery of all pastry products.

The role demands physical stamina and agility due to the nature of kitchen work, including standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive tasks. The successful candidate must exhibit a sense of urgency, attention to detail, and the ambition to exceed member expectations while maintaining respect, care, and positivity towards all team members and guests. Working at Cherokee Town & Country Club means joining a respected institution committed to excellence, team spirit, and delivering superior experiences in a supportive and rewarding setting.
