Elaichi Co. is currently seeking a talented Pastry Operations Leader to join their team and elevate their pastry offerings to be as beloved and high-quality as their drinks. This role is centered around managing the bustling commissary bakery located in Emeryville, which serves multiple café locations as well as wholesale partners. The Pastry Chef will play a fundamental role in shaping the bakery’s offerings by developing innovative recipes, overseeing daily production, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and consistency.
As a vital part of a small but ambitious team, the incoming Pastry Operations Leader has the unique opportunity to grow with the company. The leader in this role will be responsible for hiring, training, and leading a motivated team of bakers and kitchen staff, fostering a positive work environment built on mentorship and teamwork. They will also monitor and support the bakery’s growth by optimizing production processes, managing schedules, and identifying when to expand the team or capabilities. Creativity is a cornerstone of this role, where the chef will develop new sweet and savory recipes that resonate with Elaichi’s cultural heritage but are also practical for replication in a busy kitchen setting.
Operational duties include managing inventory and vendor relationships, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards, and keeping a clean and organized work environment. The Pastry Operations Leader will handle the business side of the bakery by tracking sales, controlling waste, optimizing stock rotation, and reviewing profitability reports. The role requires availability during early mornings, weekends, and holidays due to the business's seven-day schedule.
