Job Description

The Moore is a landmark destination located in the Miami Design District, renowned for its rich history and vibrant cultural significance. This unique establishment comprises a private members club, a luxurious hotel, and an eclectic collection of restaurants, retail shops, exhibition galleries, event spaces, and office environments. Housed within the historic circa-1922 Moore building, the nearly 90,000-square-foot reimagined space ingeniously integrates two four-story structures perfectly situated at the bustling intersection of NE 40th Street and NE 2nd Avenue. Among its most striking features is Elastika, the iconic site-specific commission created by the late internationally acclaimed artist and architect Zaha Hadid for the inaugural Design Miami exhibition in 2005. The Moore’s diverse programming spans across four vibrant floors offering an unmatched blend of culinary, cultural, social, and professional experiences.

The first floor is energized by Torno Subito, an all-day public dining concept that provides guests with exquisite dishes inspired by modern Italian cuisine. Ascending to the second floor reveals the exclusive ambiance of The Club at The Moore, a members-only retreat offering a sophisticated restaurant, multiple bars, lavish lounges, and private dining and event spaces designed for networking and indulgence. The Workplace at The Moore, located on the third floor, caters to professionals by providing leasable private offices, dedicated desks, and communal workspaces equipped to foster productivity and collaboration. On the fourth floor, The Hotel at The Moore boasts 15 luxurious suites available for both members and non-members who seek to enjoy an intimate and refined stay. Adjacent to the suites is The Gallery at The Moore, a 4,500-square-foot private exhibition and event space overlooking the breathtaking Elastika atrium, ideal for showcasing art and hosting elegant gatherings.

The Moore is operated and reimagined by WoodHouse, a boutique hospitality company founded by visionary entrepreneur Brady Wood. WoodHouse specializes in creating and managing experiential hospitality concepts that include private clubs, innovative restaurants, boutique hotels, and live music and entertainment venues. Their commitment to delivering extraordinary guest experiences and cultivating vibrant communities is reflected in every aspect of The Moore.

We are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Pastry Cook to join our culinary team at The Moore. This role requires a culinary artisan who excels in crafting and preparing a diverse assortment of pastries, desserts, and baked goods that not only taste superb but are presented with artistic flair. The Pastry Cook will collaborate closely with the culinary team to develop inventive menus aligned with our high standards and culinary vision. This position demands a deep understanding of pastry techniques, exceptional attention to detail, and a creative mindset dedicated to delighting guests and enhancing their dining experience.

Responsibilities include preparing and baking a variety of delicate pastries, desserts, and breads while maintaining strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. The ideal candidate will contribute fresh, creative ideas to menu development, manage inventory, control costs efficiently, and foster a positive, collaborative environment within the pastry department. Staying updated on industry trends and continuously enhancing pastry offerings are vital to this role. The Pastry Cook must demonstrate precision, timeliness, and excellence in all facets of pastry preparation and execution, ensuring every product reflects the premium standards of The Moore’s culinary offerings.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to handle and manipulate objects with hands, including seizing, grasping, turning, and holding
  • Capability to work on your feet for at least 8 hours
  • Fast-paced movements required to navigate various areas of the club
  • Ability to lift, pull, carry, or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds occasionally and 15 pounds regularly
  • Occasional kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing as required

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced, upscale, and professional culinary environment
  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, including baking, decorating, and plating
  • Creative mindset and the ability to develop unique and visually appealing pastry creations
  • Attention to detail and precision in recipe execution and presentation
  • Understanding of flavor combinations and the ability to create delicious and balanced desserts
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with the culinary team
  • Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required
  • Willingness to arrive early for work, allowing sufficient time to settle and be briefed on previous and upcoming services

Job Duties
