Job Description
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, a prestigious brand within Marriott International, stands as a beacon in the global hospitality industry. With more than 400 communities worldwide, Sheraton has been a place to gather, connect, and create memorable guest experiences since 1937. As part of the Marriott International family, Sheraton is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where diverse backgrounds, talents, and experiences are valued and celebrated. The brand embraces a culture of equal opportunity, championing non-discrimination based on disability, veteran status, or other legally protected grounds. Joining Sheraton means becoming part of a global community dedicated to excellence in service and hospitality.
The position at Sheraton Hotels & Resorts involves preparing and cooking food with meticulous attention to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. This role requires thorough knowledge of food prep checklists and safety procedures, ensuring that all culinary tasks meet the highest industry standards. The responsibilities include preparing ingredients such as portioning, chopping, and storing food to optimize workflow and maintain freshness. Culinary associates are expected to skillfully use baking and measuring tools and equipment safely, aligning with stringent food handling policies and personal hygiene procedures.
Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and sanitation is a key aspect of this role. Associates will be responsible for washing and disinfecting the kitchen area, setting up and breaking down workstations, and adhering strictly to sanitation protocols to guarantee a safe and hygienic food preparation environment. They will monitor food quality and portion consistency throughout their shift, reporting any anomalies or equipment issues directly to management. This position also demands a strong commitment to safety standards, including the reporting of accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to supervisors while completing necessary safety training and certifications.
The role requires physical stamina and agility, capable of lifting and moving objects up to 25 pounds without assistance, navigating slippery or uneven surfaces, and performing tasks that involve bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods. Professionalism is critical, with expectations for clean, appropriate uniforms and personal appearance, clear communication skills, telephone etiquette, and the maintenance of confidentiality related to company proprietary information.
As part of the Sheraton team, associates develop and maintain positive working relationships, contributing to a collaborative work environment where teamwork is essential for shared success. This position is ideal for individuals with less than one year of related culinary experience and no supervisory responsibilities, holding at least a high school diploma or GED. It provides an opportunity for those passionate about entering the hospitality industry to grow and develop within a globally recognized brand committed to being 'The World's Gathering Place.' Sheraton Hotels & Resorts invites team players excited to deliver meaningful guest experiences to explore this opportunity and become the best version of themselves within an amazing global team.
