Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of relevant pastry cook experience
- Strong knowledge of baking and pastry techniques
- Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds
- Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and food safety standards
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and stressful conditions
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-year pastry chef experience in a full service restaurant or equivalent
- Ability to meet personal schedule requirements punctually
- Provide a clean, well-manicured appearance reflecting the restaurant's image
- Ability to safely transport items weighing up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand and/or walk for entire shifts
- Ability to safely navigate slick, uneven surfaces and stairs
- Capacity to work variable and flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to perform in limited physical space with variable ventilation, smoke, and extreme temperatures
Job Duties
- Perform a daily walk through inventory to prioritize product utilization
- Identify and communicate inventory and equipment needs to ordering manager
- Meet daily with executive chef to coordinate and ensure production standards
- Assist in development and maintenance of pastry recipe books prescribing ingredients, product specifications, and portion sizes
- Assist in development of dessert menus and items
- Produce pastries for the restaurant and special functions
- Prepare ingredients for pastry recipes
- Prepare pastry items according to prescribed recipes
- Maintain food quality standards including consistency and presentation
- Coordinate proper food storage according to operating procedures
- Work dessert station on line when necessary
- Use kitchen equipment as prescribed
- Safely and efficiently use knives and utensils
- Operate independently if necessary
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure safety
- Communicate problems to management immediately
- Review catering function agenda daily
- Confirm guest reservations with management to determine preparation quantities
- Maintain a well-manicured appearance and persona reflecting the restaurant image
- Be an active team player
- Follow supervisor's instructions
- Work under stressful conditions
- Make appropriate judgment calls
- Assist servers in pastry item presentation
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the shift and prepare area for the next shift
- Follow proper hand washing procedures
- Communicate with purchasing and product development for special orders
- Review and update pastry item descriptions for service staff
