Job Requirements

  • provide a clean, well-manicured persona reflecting restaurant's image
  • safely transport containers weighing up to 30 pounds
  • stand and walk for an entire shift
  • safely transport items on slick or uneven surfaces and stairs
  • safely move about all restaurant areas
  • work a variable and flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • perform in limited physical space with variable ventilation, smoke, and extreme temperatures

Job Qualifications

  • minimum of 1-year pastry chef experience in a full service restaurant or equivalent
  • ability to work under stressful conditions and make appropriate judgment calls
  • ability to assist servers in preparing presentation of pastry items
  • ability to review and update pastry item descriptions for service staff
  • active team player with ability to follow supervisor's instructions
  • good communication skills
  • commitment to maintaining a well manicured appearance reflecting restaurant's image

Job Duties

  • perform daily inventory walk through to prioritize product utilization
  • identify and communicate inventory and equipment needs to ordering manager
  • meet daily with executive chef to coordinate and ensure production standards
  • assist in development and maintenance of pastry recipe books prescribing ingredients, product specifications, and portion sizes
  • assist in development of dessert menus and items
  • produce pastries for restaurant and special functions
  • prepare ingredients needed for pastry items recipes
  • prepare pastry items according to prescribed recipes
  • maintain food quality standards including consistency and presentation
  • coordinate proper food storage according to standing operating procedures
  • work dessert station on line when necessary
  • use equipment as prescribed in preparation of menu items
  • safely and efficiently use knives and other utensils necessary for preparation
  • operate position functions independently if necessary
  • maintain clean and orderly work area to ensure safety
  • communicate problems immediately to management
