Job Description
CHICA at The Venetian in Las Vegas is a celebrated Latin cuisine restaurant that first opened its doors in 2017. Situated within the iconic Venetian Las Vegas, CHICA presents a vibrant and robust culinary experience inspired by Latin American culture. The restaurant is widely recognized for its authentic flavors drawn from a diverse range of Latin American countries, including Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina, among others. The menu, masterfully crafted by featured chef Lorena Garcia, offers guests classic renditions of traditional dishes, allowing them to explore Latin American flavors in a truly immersive dining experience.
CHICA operates daily and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, catering to a broad audience looking for an exceptional taste of Latin America. The establishment prides itself on offering not only exquisite cuisine but also a dynamic wine and mixology program designed to complement the rich flavors of the dishes. As part of the distinguished 50 Eggs hospitality group, founded by CEO John Kunkel—a James Beard-nominated entrepreneur—CHICA is positioned as a leader in culinary innovation and hospitality service.
The Pastry Cook role at CHICA involves working under the guidance of the Executive Chef and closely with kitchen, stewarding, and food & beverage staff to maintain the highest standards in pastry and baked goods preparation. Responsibilities include planning, prepping, setting up, and preparing pastries, desserts, breads, ice creams, sorbets, creams, simple syrups, and jams. This role requires adherence to departmental quality standards and specifications to ensure every product served is of excellent quality.
A critical aspect of this position is the maintenance of organization, cleanliness, and sanitation in all work areas and equipment, meeting state health department regulations and safety standards. Coordination with the Pastry Chef and Executive Chef to manage daily specials and prep sheets is essential to align kitchen operations smoothly and efficiently. The role demands a balance of creativity, precision, and operational acumen to thrive in CHICA's fast-paced and high-volume pastry kitchen environment.
CHICA offers competitive compensation and values a work environment that embraces diversity, professionalism, and continuous growth. This role is ideal for pastry professionals who are enthusiastic about Latin cuisine and dedicated to delivering culinary excellence. As part of a team that values quality and precision, candidates will have opportunities to develop their skills while contributing to an exceptional dining experience in one of Las Vegas's most prestigious resorts.
