Job Description

Sonesta International Hotels stands as the 8th largest hotel company in the United States, currently experiencing rapid growth. This well-recognized hospitality company offers a unique blend of full-service and focused hotels located in major cities across the country and beyond. Sonesta boasts a diverse portfolio comprising owned, managed, and franchised properties, offering a footprint in more than 1000 properties across eight countries and counting. Driven by a commitment to the human side of hospitality, Sonesta prides itself on delivering service with passion, fostering loyalty with purposeful intent, and creating experiences that genuinely connect with guests. The company culture is encapsulated in the motto "Together We Thrive," reflecting their dedication to quality, value, and exceptional hospitality delivered to every guest during every stay.

This job opportunity is for a Pastry Cook, a key culinary role within Sonesta's food and beverage operations. The Pastry Cook position involves preparing and baking a variety of desserts, including cakes, cookies, pies, puddings, and other sweet treats. The role requires expertise in mixing ingredients, shaping dough, regulating oven temperatures, decorating desserts, and preparing fillings and icings with artistic precision. Beyond culinary skills, this role demands a collaborative spirit, respectful interaction with colleagues, and a passionate dedication to delivering engaging and personalized service to guests. The Pastry Cook will actively contribute to upholding Sonesta's guest service model, which emphasizes greeting guests warmly, using eye and ear contact to address guests by name, anticipating and meeting their needs, resolving requests or complaints efficiently, and expressing gratitude.

The ideal candidate for this Pastry Cook position will have at least two years of pastry cooking experience, with a preference for those holding a Culinary Pastry degree or relevant hotel experience. Candidates should be proficient in both basic and intermediate pastry preparation techniques and demonstrate a proven track record of providing outstanding guest experiences. Strong communication skills are essential for safety training and guest interactions, along with professional appearance and demeanor. A valid ServSafe Food Handler certificate is a mandatory requirement for this role.

Physical demands include standing, walking, talking, hearing, occasional use of hands, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and occasionally lifting or moving items weighing up to 100 pounds. The work environment may expose employees to moving mechanical parts, extreme temperature variations, and moderate noise levels. Sonesta offers a competitive pay range for this position and supports staff with robust benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, health savings accounts, a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, paid vacation, and more.

Sonesta International Hotels is committed to equal opportunity employment, considering qualified applicants without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics. Applicants are required to submit a complete application and resume for full consideration.
