This opportunity is for a full-time Pastry Cook at Marriott St. Louis Grand who will play a vital role in the preparation and cooking of baked goods and pastries following culinary and safety standards. The role is non-management and offers a pay rate of $20.58 per hour. It requires a background in pastry or bakery and open availability. The Pastry Cook will prepare ingredients, measure and bake items, monitor quality and food safety compliance, and work collaboratively with the culinary team to ensure outstanding guest experiences. A key feature of this role includes access to online culinary training via the Rouxbe cooking school platform, providing associates with hundreds of engaging lessons designed to help grow their culinary careers, regardless of their current skill level.

This role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow recipes accurately, and commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety. The Pastry Cook will handle tasks such as portioning, chopping, and proper food storage, utilizing kitchen tools and equipment safely. Monitoring correct temperatures of food and appliances, cleaning and sanitizing work areas, and supporting food safety training initiatives are also essential responsibilities. The position demands physical ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform various physical movements like bending and twisting.

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines
  • Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, and storing them before use
  • Use kitchen tools and appliances safely and properly for measuring and baking
  • Follow and ensure compliance with food safety policies and personal hygiene procedures
  • Monitor and verify correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, report issues to management
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, organize workstations, and adhere to hygiene and cleaning protocols
  • Monitor food quality and portion sizes throughout the work shift
