Job Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted safely
- Ability to stand for long periods and bend or stoop frequently
- Basic understanding of reading and measuring recipes
- Ability to work under extreme temperatures such as hot ovens and freezers
- Availability to work occasional longer shifts of up to 10 hours
- Willingness to work overnight, early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination for food preparation and cash handling
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a bakery or food service environment preferred
- Basic cash handling and mathematical skills
- Ability to follow recipes and preparation instructions accurately
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
Job Duties
- Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees or teas
- Prepare and sell coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques
- Take customer orders and convey them to other employees for preparation
- Clean or sanitize work areas, utensils, or equipment
- Keep service area clean and organized by dusting, wiping and sweeping area
- Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning
- Describe menu items to customers or suggest products that might appeal to them
- Provide customers with product details, such as coffee blend or preparation descriptions
- Receive and process customer payments
- Stock or refill customer service stations with condiments or beverage preparation items
- Assist customers while ringing up items for purchase
- Bag or box pastries using the least number of bags or boxes
- Verify and balance register till at the beginning and end of shift
- Accept, verify, and process payment from customer in the form of cash, credit, debit EBT and check
- Verify and process purchase orders
- Ensure register accuracy and carry out proper register procedures
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
- Maintain knowledge of various products in the bakery department
- Assist in all aspects of the Bakery operation
- Conduct floor checks ensuring shelves are stocked and products are merchandised and rotated properly
- May directly train and help develop employees
- Foster a positive work environment and provide a safe and sanitary environment for customers and associates
- Ensure company programs, philosophies and image are maintained and foster good community relationships
- Occasional receiving of merchandise with or without direct store delivery gun
- Periodic inventory taking, downloading and auditing
- Perform any other tasks as deemed necessary by management
