The Six String Grill has carefully crafted a masterful menu that caters both to the discriminating foodie and casual bar and grill guests, creating an inclusive yet refined dining environment.
Currently, The Six String Grill is seeking to expand its dessert offerings by incorporating signature seasonal pies, cakes, and other creative and original desserts on a monthly basis. The dessert menu as it stands includes standout items such as Key Lime Pie, Espresso Cream Cake, and Cheesecake—all indicative of the culinary creativity nurtured within the kitchen. The Pastry Chef will play a pivotal role in driving this initiative, leading the pastry and baking functions with a focus on innovation, quality, and consistency.
In this role, the Pastry Chef will manage all aspects of the dessert kitchen operations, including menu development, inventory management, purchasing, and cost control. They will be responsible for crafting dessert menus that optimize profits while minimizing waste, ensuring that every offering aligns with the restaurant’s high standards and guest expectations. The position requires an individual who understands federal, state, and local food sanitation regulations to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment. As a crucial member of the culinary team, the Pastry Chef must be proactive in reducing waste and managing supplies efficiently.
This opportunity offers a flexible part-time schedule, approximately 24 to 32 hours per week, with working hours adjusted to suit the restaurant’s needs. The ability to effectively produce high-quality desserts to serve a substantial volume of guests—up to 8,000 patrons per month—is essential. This role not only demands technical baking and pastry skills but also an innovative mindset to help the kitchen evolve its dessert offerings and maintain a competitive edge in Austin’s dynamic food scene.
Working at The Six String Grill means contributing to a unique establishment that elevates the dining and entertainment experience. Here, mini-golf is paired with a sophisticated food and beverage menu, creating a space where adults, teens, college students, and families alike can enjoy premium wines, local live music, and memorable moments. The Hill Country Golf & Guitar, including The Six String Grill, embodies the Austin spirit—an authentic community hub that strives to make every visit feel like coming home. As part of this team, the Pastry Chef will play an integral role in fulfilling that mission through culinary excellence and community engagement.
