The Pastry Chef role at Occasions Caterers involves creating, planning, and supervising the daily production of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods. This position demands a blend of creativity, technical skill, leadership, and operational expertise. The successful candidate will ensure that recipes and standards are strictly followed, controlling food costs and preparing appropriate quantities based on production needs. Maintaining the quality and presentation of pastries at all times is paramount, including proper food handling, portion control, and serving temperatures. The Pastry Chef also plays a critical role in managing the cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance of the pastry kitchen to comply with federal, state, and corporate standards. Supervising and mentoring kitchen and pastry associates, conducting interviews, scheduling, training, and managing payroll are key leadership duties of this role. In addition, the Pastry Chef helps plan and implement seasonal menus, stays on top of inventory control by ordering and maintaining pastry supplies, and performs other assigned duties that support the smooth running of the kitchen. Job Duties
- Supervises the daily production and distribution of all pastries, desserts and baked goods
- Ensures recipes and standards are followed, food costs are controlled and appropriate quantity is prepared based on established production needs
- Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
- Monitors and controls the maintenance and sanitation of the pastry kitchen and equipment to ensure a work environment that meets or exceeds federal, state and corporate standards and regulations
- Supervises hourly kitchen and pastry associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate
- Helps plan and implement seasonal menus
- Orders and maintains pastry supplies and products to ensure appropriate inventory levels
- Performs other duties as assigned
