Job Description

Rose Senior Living Farmington Hills is a distinguished senior living community dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to its residents. As part of Edward Rose and Sons, a company renowned for its commitment to quality and respect for the senior population, this community fosters a warm and welcoming atmosphere where elders can thrive and share their valuable life stories. The organization emphasizes investing deeply in its employees, recognizing that a motivated, skilled workforce is crucial in delivering outstanding service and enriching the lives of all residents. With its roots firmly planted in hospitality and compassionate care, Rose Senior Living Farmington Hills combines a nurturing environment with professional excellence to create a meaningful experience for both residents and staff alike. Employees at this community are not just doing a job; they are contributing to an extraordinary life, playing a vital role in a larger mission of senior care excellence.

The role of Pastry Chef / Cook within Rose Senior Living Farmington Hills’ Community Culinary Services Department is a unique opportunity for culinary professionals with a passion for baking and cooking in a hospitality-driven setting. This position involves preparing high-quality baked goods and desserts while also supporting the broader culinary production during meal service. The Pastry Chef / Cook is responsible for creating visually appealing and delicious pastry selections that meet specific menu, quality, and dietary guidelines. This ensures that the residents receive meals that are not only nutritious but also enjoyable and tailored to meet health regulations and personal preferences.

Additionally, the role requires hands-on involvement in the kitchen’s regular cooking operations, particularly during busy periods, demonstrating efficiency, accuracy, and speed. Beyond cooking, the position entails maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization across the kitchen and baking areas, which is essential in a health-sensitive environment such as senior living. Inventory monitoring and supply management are also critical components of the job, ensuring the kitchen is adequately stocked to maintain smooth production.

Importantly, the Pastry Chef / Cook also plays a key role in resident engagement by periodically visiting dining areas to evaluate food service aspects like quality, temperature, quantity, and presentation. This personal interaction helps create a positive dining experience that supports the community's hospitality promises, ensuring that every resident feels valued and cared for. This position requires working every other weekend and the flexibility to support various culinary needs as they arise.

The compensation for the Pastry Chef / Cook position ranges from $18 to $22 per hour, depending on experience. This role offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes competitive wages, paid time off from day one, medical, vision, and dental insurance, a 401K with employer match, employee discounts, and more. Rose Senior Living Farmington Hills fosters a professional environment focused on respect, accountability, and inclusiveness where employees are greeted warmly, listened to attentively, and valued for their contributions. Working here means being part of a team committed to making a difference in senior lives every day.
