The role of Pastry Chef at Cypress Social is integral to maintaining the high standards and exceptional quality that the restaurant is known for. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, General Manager, and Assistant General Manager, the Pastry Chef is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pastry department. This leadership position involves a broad range of duties, from ensuring the consistency and quality of desserts to managing kitchen organization and adhering to health and safety standards. The Pastry Chef plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the station and surrounding areas, following company standards and health code regulations meticulously.
In this position, the Pastry Chef must exhibit keen attention to detail, particularly in following recipes precisely to guarantee consistency throughout the dessert program. The role requires collaboration with kitchen staff to coordinate and direct dessert preparation from initial prep through to service, ensuring smooth operations within the pastry department. The Pastry Chef also assists with ordering special ingredients, managing inventory including weekly counts, and maintaining accurate records related to deliveries, dessert transfers, and production levels to support efficient department functionality.

Job Duties
- Maintains quality and consistency standards of desserts set forth by the Executive Chef, General Manager, and Ownership
- Ensures the station and surrounding areas are sanitized and clean in accordance with company standards and health code regulations
- Organizes kitchen, manages product rotation, and oversees routine maintenance
- Adheres to and accurately follows recipes to ensure consistency of the dessert program
- Assists in the coordination and direction of all dessert preparation from prep through service
- Assists in ordering special ingredients and needs when necessary
- Responsible for weekly inventory counts for the pastry department
- Stays current on dessert and pastry industry trends, new culinary techniques, and presentations
- Communicates any necessary repairs for kitchen equipment and appliances
- Keeps records related to deliveries, dessert transfers, and production levels
- Works flexible hours including weekends and evenings as needed
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment
