Job Requirements

  • three (3) years related experience in hospitality or service industry preferred

Job Duties

  • Must be courteous and gracious, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times
  • establish and maintain good communication and teamwork with fellow colleagues and other departments within the hotel
  • minimize number of accidents occurring from unsafe practices by ensuring applicable health and safety standards are understood and applied in the conduct of all work activities
  • perform all duties in a safe manner and monitor the actions of others
  • create and prepare dessert menu items with the Executive Chef and prepare dessert items before service begins, and plate items as they are requested during service
  • responsible for breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquets and room service meal periods
  • order food and supplies for all menus
  • schedule all necessary baking staff to run an organized and efficient operation
  • supervise and train bakers and other kitchen workers as they assist in the preparation of dessert items
  • train other cooks/bakers in pastry techniques
  • prepare baked goods such as breakfast breads and breads for the hot kitchen and dining room
  • research and develop new recipes, test recipes in the kitchen to keep the menu up to date and interesting, and cost the recipe and submit to the Chef for approval
  • adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and verbal instructions
  • maintain "open door" communication with employee
  • ensure staff understands their job expectations before holding them accountable
  • maintain awareness of documentation needed and retained in employee files
  • be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures including OSHA requirements
  • attend relevant meetings
