The Pastry Chef role at UnCruise Adventures is a vital position within the galley team responsible for crafting high-quality baked goods, desserts, and pastries that enhance the onboard culinary experience. The Pastry Chef collaborates closely with the galley crew to maintain an efficient kitchen environment, assisting with meal plate-ups, galley cleaning, and occasionally supporting savory food preparation. This role requires working in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment, including close quarters with other crew members on the vessel for extended periods, and demands flexibility to adapt to rotating schedules with periods of sailing followed by scheduled time off.

Job Requirements
- ServSafe Allergens certification
- Alaska Food Handler Permit
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
- Government ID (REAL ID compliant) or Passport
- Ability to work physically demanding shifts of 12 hours per day, 7 days a week for 6 to 8 weeks
- Physically able to handle lifting up to 50 pounds and perform tasks involving bending, twisting, kneeling and climbing
- Comfortable working in small spaces and various weather conditions
- Willingness to comply with all CDC/FDA vessel sanitation and safety requirements
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years experience in a general kitchen or galley setting
- Minimum of 2 years working with pastries and desserts
- Proficient in creating breads, desserts, and pastries for guests with special diets and allergies such as gluten free, dairy free, nut allergies
- Good time management skills including ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Hardworking, flexible and able to communicate professionally with the Chef and crew
- Able to work well in a team environment
- Comfortable living and working in close quarters with other crew members for extended periods
Job Duties
- Plan and oversee the production and presentation of all breads, pastries, cookies and desserts
- Prepare items for special diets for guests and crew as needed for vegan, gluten free, nut allergies, etc
- Occasionally assist in prepping or cooking meals beyond baking responsibilities
- Assist with plate-up and clean-up of meals daily including support at the dish station
- Assist with weekly storing of provisions and inventory management
- Maintain proper sanitation in the galley under Chef's guidance
- Interact with guests courteously and participate in galley tours and evening activities as directed
