The current opening is for a full-time Pastry Chef position located at AdventHealth Riverview in Riverview, Florida. Applicants must apply online as this is the only method to be considered. The role demands a full-time commitment with a schedule primarily from Monday to Friday, including some weekends, with working hours from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for creating, planning, and supervising the daily production of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods. This role requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure that all recipes and quality standards are rigorously followed. You will manage food costs effectively and produce the appropriate quantities based on the established production needs of the kitchen. This position also entails ensuring proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintaining the correct serving temperatures to guarantee a superior culinary experience.
In addition to food preparation responsibilities, the Pastry Chef will oversee the cleanliness and sanitation of the pastry kitchen and its equipment, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and corporate regulations. The role includes supervising hourly kitchen and pastry associates with duties that cover interviewing, scheduling, payroll management, training, counseling, and performance reviews. You will have an active part in disciplinary procedures as necessary and help plan and implement seasonal menus to keep offerings fresh and appealing.
The position also involves ordering and maintaining pastry supplies and ingredients to ensure inventory levels are well-managed. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of baking experience
- Ability to work a full-time schedule including some weekends
- Ability to supervise kitchen staff
- Knowledge of food safety regulations
- Strong attention to detail
- Willingness to comply with background screening if required

Job Duties
- Supervises the daily production and distribution of all pastries, desserts and baked goods
- Ensures recipes and standards are followed, food costs are controlled and appropriate quantity is prepared based on established production needs
- Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
- Monitors and controls the maintenance and sanitation of the pastry kitchen and equipment to ensure a work environment that meets/exceeds federal, state and corporate standards and regulations
- Supervises hourly kitchen/pastry associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action, as appropriate
- Helps plan and implement seasonal menus
- Orders and maintains pastry supplies and products to ensure appropriate inventory levels
- Performs other duties as assigned
