As a Pastry Cook, you will be integral to maintaining the high food quality and safety standards that SUSHI SAMBA is famous for. You’ll follow detailed recipes and portion controls, ensuring consistent excellence in every dish. Timeliness is crucial, so coordinating delivery of food items within strict time limits is a key part of the role. Additionally, keeping the kitchen clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation policies is critical to smooth operation. Communication is also essential; you will report product shortages, equipment malfunctions, and any service issues promptly to ensure minimal interruptions.

The physical demands include the ability to lift and exert force occasionally, so stamina and strength are necessary. Holding a valid Food Handler Card and having legal authorization to work in the U.S. are prerequisites.

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a pastry cook or higher
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently
  • Ability to maintain and follow recipes, processes and standards
  • Drive and ambition with a desire to learn and grow within the team
  • Full ownership of your role
  • Possession of valid food handler card
  • Valid documentation of your right to work in the U.S

Job Duties

  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications in line with SUSHI SAMBA standards
  • Coordinate the delivery of all food items within the required time standards
  • Demonstrate product standards and knowledge
  • Prepare and plate food items according to specifications and preset time limits
  • Ensure safety and sanitation standards are maintained
  • Communicate any product run outs, equipment issues and service issues
  • Assist in the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, coolers, and all storage areas
