Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- culinary degree preferred
- 5-8 years relevant pastry chef experience in upscale, high-volume catering or restaurants
- ability to work flexible hours including open availability
- strong leadership and team management skills
- excellent communication skills
- ability to maintain food safety and sanitation standards
- proficiency in menu development and cost controls
Job Qualifications
- Culinary degree preferred
- 5-8 years of related experience in upscale, high-volume restaurant and/or catering operations
- ability to demonstrate creative and quality-driven pastry skills
- good food knowledge and recognition of quality product
- strong knowledge of current food and catering trends focusing on seasonal ingredients, production, sanitation, food cost controls, menu development, and presentation
- excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles
- ServSafe or Department of Health certification a plus
Job Duties
- Prepares, produces and orders for the pastry department
- manages a team of hourly associates including hiring, training and development
- handles, prepares and stores perishable products
- adheres to HACCP guidelines to ensure efficient, safe and sanitary food production
- creates menus and recipes for catering events
- monitors food cost controls and quality assurance
- ensures compliance with food safety standards
