Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • culinary degree preferred
  • 5-8 years relevant pastry chef experience in upscale, high-volume catering or restaurants
  • ability to work flexible hours including open availability
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • proficiency in menu development and cost controls

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree preferred
  • 5-8 years of related experience in upscale, high-volume restaurant and/or catering operations
  • ability to demonstrate creative and quality-driven pastry skills
  • good food knowledge and recognition of quality product
  • strong knowledge of current food and catering trends focusing on seasonal ingredients, production, sanitation, food cost controls, menu development, and presentation
  • excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles
  • ServSafe or Department of Health certification a plus

Job Duties

  • Prepares, produces and orders for the pastry department
  • manages a team of hourly associates including hiring, training and development
  • handles, prepares and stores perishable products
  • adheres to HACCP guidelines to ensure efficient, safe and sanitary food production
  • creates menus and recipes for catering events
  • monitors food cost controls and quality assurance
  • ensures compliance with food safety standards
