Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Prior experience as a Pastry Chef or Lead Pastry Cook required
  • Must hold current Food Handlers or Safe Serve Certificate
  • Ability to lift and move up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules including weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex information
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to interact positively with supervisors, coworkers, and members
  • Ability to maintain professional attitude and respectful behavior
  • Capacity to handle and resolve stressful situations
  • Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Office
  • Good mathematical skills including basic algebra and calculations

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Prior experience as a Pastry Chef or Lead Pastry Cook
  • Culinary graduate preferred
  • Current Food Handlers or Safe Serve Certificate
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to develop and train staff
  • Excellent knowledge of pastry preparation techniques
  • Ability to maintain high quality and presentation standards
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel and Word
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed worksheets

  • Ability to work under pressure and in fast-paced environments

Job Duties

  • Prepare daily sweet items, sauces, breads according to standardized recipes
  • Assist Pastry Chef with cost controls, requisitioning and issuing of food production
  • Maintain high standards of quality, cost, flavor, and texture
  • Ensure proper scheduling for profitability and quality
  • Recommend maintenance and upkeep of kitchen and equipment
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned
  • Plan and assist with energy conservation procedures
  • Develop and provide professional training
  • Maintain security of kitchen equipment, supplies, and food inventories
  • Assist in food procurement, delivery, and storage
  • Coordinate buffet presentations
  • Check mise en place and inspect food presentation
  • Report member and guest feedback and assist in resolution
  • Adhere to uniform and grooming standards
  • Submit operational improvement ideas
  • Follow up on tasks until completion
  • Demonstrate punctuality and time management
  • Perform other duties as directed
