Farmers Table is currently seeking an experienced Pastry Assistant to join their dynamic kitchen team. This role is fundamental in supporting the scratch bakery operations, which use only organic ingredients to produce all dessert items in-house. The Pastry Assistant will engage in diverse tasks that cover the full scope of daily bakery production, including the preparation and plating of various pastries and desserts such as cakes, fillings, scones, sauces, ice creams, and banquet items. Attention to detail is critical as the role requires strict adherence to precise recipes to maintain quality and consistency. Beyond the kitchen skills, the Pastry Assistant will also take responsibility for inventory management, ensuring that bakery supplies are rotated properly and maintained in a clean and sanitary environment.

The position demands adaptability as the assistant will also cover plating shifts to accommodate staffing changes due to absences or vacations. This provides an opportunity to develop a broad skill set and work collaboratively within the culinary team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Ideal candidates will have a culinary degree focused on pastry arts, coupled with a minimum of one year of experience working in a pastry kitchen. Job Requirements

  • Be able to work 10 hour shifts
  • Able to lift 50lb
  • Must be available to work nights weekends and holidays
  • Punctual and disciplined to maintain optimal work enviroment
  • Able to follow instructions and recipes accurately
  • Confident in pastry techniques and skills

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 years in pastry kitchen
  • Culinary degree in pastry
  • Knowledge of high volume or banquet service
  • Be able to work in pressurized environment and remain calm

Job Duties

  • Create and prepare all pastry items needed for service including cakes fillings scones sauces ice creams and banquet production
  • plating of desserts
  • carefully follows exact recipes
  • responsible for weekly bakery inventory and rotating food supplies on hand

  • covers all plating shifts as needed for call outs and vacations
