At the BOS-STONEHAM, MA location, Michaels is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Event Coordinator who will play a vital role in enhancing the customer experience within the store. This position is designed for an individual with a passion for creativity, customer service, and event management, capable of delivering memorable, stress-free, and fun events including children's birthday parties and craft classes. The Event Coordinator will engage with clients of all ages while fostering an environment rich in creative expression and enjoyment.

This role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, not only focusing on event planning and execution but also participating in daily store operations. The Event Coordinator will be instrumental in providing outstanding customer service by assisting customers in locating products, explaining benefits of store programs such as the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and facilitating various checkout processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). The role demands an individual who can multitask across event coordination, customer engagement, merchandise management, and operational duties including unloading trucks, stocking, and maintaining store recovery standards to ensure a well-functioning retail environment.

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and possess strong organizational and creative problem-solving abilities. Experience working with children, particularly in organizing children's events, will be highly valued. Maintaining the store's cleanliness and safety standards will also be a key aspect of the role, which involves setting up and breaking down event spaces, as well as participating in daily cleaning and maintenance activities. The position requires physical stamina including the ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy boxes, and access high shelves using ladders or similar equipment.

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events including children's birthday parties and craft classes
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities such as face painting
  • Facilitate party add-ons like goody bags and balloons to company standards
  • Communicate event details with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks including answering emails, making phone calls, and paperwork
  • Adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards by setting up and cleaning before and after events
  • Help customers shop and locate products
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Promote Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
  • Assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store processes
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking, planogram processes
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
  • Interact positively and respectfully with customers and team members
  • Cross-train in Custom Framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities
