As an equal opportunity employer, Michaels embraces diversity and inclusion by providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities, reflecting its commitment to full participation for all qualified candidates.
The store located in Bay-Pleasant Hill, CA, is currently seeking a part-time Event Coordinator who excels in orchestrating memorable and engaging events within the store setting. The role revolves around planning, coordinating, and facilitating multiple events simultaneously, with a particular emphasis on children's birthday parties and craft-related classes designed for guests in various age groups, ranging from young children to senior adults. This position is pivotal in delivering a stress-free, fun, and creative experience for customers, ensuring they leave with lasting positive impressions of Michaels’ community and brand.
The Event Coordinator will cultivate an atmosphere of fun, creativity, and engagement, acting as the face of the brand during events and customer interactions. Responsibilities include demonstrating craft project techniques, performing entertaining activities such as face painting, and managing special party add-ons like goody bags and balloons to maintain high standards of client satisfaction. Administrative duties such as communicating with clients, managing event-related paperwork, and adapting plans to meet client feedback are integral aspects of the job. The coordinator must be proactive in establishing contingency plans to address unexpected needs during events.
Additionally, this role incorporates customer service functions aimed at supporting shoppers throughout their store experience. The Event Coordinator will assist customers in locating products, promote the benefits of Michaels’ Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, facilitate enrollments, and provide seamless checkout experiences. The role also involves participation in operational tasks such as truck unloading, stocking, merchandising duties, and maintaining store recovery and cleanliness standards to uphold the company’s brand promises.
Candidates should be energetic, enthusiastic, and possess excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Prior experience working in retail or customer service environments, especially with children’s events, is highly preferred. This role requires the flexibility to work during nights, weekends, and early morning shifts, alongside the physical stamina to perform tasks involving lifting, standing for long periods, and moving throughout the store. The total base pay range for this position is $17.25 to $20.30 per hour. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about crafting and customer engagement to contribute to a dynamic retail environment while building valuable career skills.
