The role of Event Coordinator at the Michaels store located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, specifically the 71st Street location, is designed to bring creativity and joy to customers by managing and coordinating a variety of events within the store. Job Requirements

  • Retail and/or customer service experience required
  • Must have experience working with children and children’s events
  • Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods
  • Ability to move throughout the store
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching
  • Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using ladders
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and early mornings
  • Must interact positively and respectfully with customers and team members
  • Must be willing to participate in physical activities related to retail and event setup
  • Applicants in the U.S. must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in completion of craft projects and activities like face painting
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks including answering emails and paperwork
  • Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs
  • Create backup or emergency plans for events as needed
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • Uphold company cleanliness and safety standards by setting up, breaking down, and cleaning event spaces
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Engage customers on benefits of rewards program and credit cards
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
  • Assist with Omni channel processes including Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • Perform store in stock optimization and AD set duties
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and company policies
  • Interact respectfully and positively with customers and team members
  • Cross-trained in custom framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities such as sweeping and vacuuming
  • Other duties as assigned
