The Store Event Coordinator role at Michaels Allen Park, MI location is a dynamic and engaging position focused on planning, coordinating, and facilitating various in-store events, especially children’s birthday parties and craft classes. This role is essential to delivering a stress-free, fun, and memorable experience for guests attending events. The coordinator works closely with clients and store teams to ensure every event runs smoothly and meets the high standards set by the company. The position involves a blend of customer service, event management, and operational responsibilities, making it a vital part of the store’s daily activity.

In this role, the event coordinator hosts multiple events concurrently, demonstrating and instructing participants in craft projects, face painting, and other creative activities. They also manage party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons, ensuring these extras meet the company’s quality expectations. Communication plays a significant role as the coordinator liaises with clients and store team members, adjusting event plans based on feedback and developing backup strategies for unforeseen circumstances. Attention to cleanliness and safety is paramount, with responsibilities including setup, breakdown, and post-event cleaning to maintain the welcoming environment the brand promises.

Beyond event duties, the coordinator provides exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers in finding products, educating customers about rewards programs and credit card benefits, and facilitating checkout processes. They support various store operational tasks such as unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, maintaining store recovery, and adhering to loss prevention and safety policies. Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events
  • Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed
  • Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs
  • Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions
  • Provide fast and friendly check out experience
  • Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
  • Educate customer on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey
  • Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS)
  • Participate in the truck un-load, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements
  • Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner
  • remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations
  • promote commitment to the organization’s vision and values
  • project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members
  • Cross trained in Custom Framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including (but not limited to) sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms
