Job Description
The Michaels Companies Inc. is recognized as the leading destination for crafting and celebration in North America, with over 1,300 stores operating across 49 states and Canada, as well as a robust online presence through Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has established itself as the ultimate place for creative individuals to find all necessary supplies for arts and crafts projects, custom framing, and other creative endeavors. Specializing not only in retail but also manufacturing custom and specialty framing merchandise through its subsidiary Artistree, Michaels remains committed to fostering a culture of creativity, joy, and celebration for its customers and employees alike.
This opportunity is for a dynamic and creative Event Coordinator position at the Tulsa E 71st St store located in Oklahoma. This role focuses on planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events within the Michaels store environment with a strong emphasis on children’s birthday parties and craft activities. The Event Coordinator acts as a key representative of the Michaels brand, ensuring that every event is delivered with professionalism, creativity, and a welcoming spirit that leaves guests with memorable experiences. In addition to event coordination, the role entails providing exceptional customer service, assisting customers with their shopping needs, and ensuring swift and friendly checkout processes. This position plays a critical part in the operational success of the store, engaging in various merchandising activities, stocking, and maintaining overall store recovery standards to uphold the brand promise.
The Event Coordinator must be energetic, enthusiastic, and possess excellent interpersonal skills to engage clients across all age groups, from children to seniors, creating an atmosphere filled with fun and creativity. Responsibilities include instructing participants through craft projects, managing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after events. Administrative tasks such as answering emails, coordinating with team members, and adjusting events based on client feedback form an important part of this role.
Customer experience is central to this position where the coordinator assists shoppers, educates customers on the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, facilitates online purchase pickups and in-store shipping, and contributes to daily merchandising and store upkeep. The role demands adherence to company policies, safety protocols, and promotion of a positive store environment that reflects the company’s values. Cross-training in custom framing services and participation in shrink and safety programs are also integral components.
Michaels offers comprehensive benefits to full-time and part-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. The company prides itself on providing an inclusive work environment, supporting individuals with disabilities by offering reasonable accommodations. This role requires standing for long periods, lifting, bending, and the ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends. Michaels is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, inclusion, and creating an environment where all team members and customers are valued and respected.
