Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, along with an extensive online presence at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise, broadening their offerings and expertise in the creative industry. Michaels is widely recognized as the premier provider for creative and celebratory needs, from crafting projects to personalized party events, catering to a wide demographic of customers who seek to express their creativity and celebrate special moments. Michaels prioritizes inclusivity, accessibility, and the wellbeing of its team members, reinforcing a culture of innovation, creativity, and community engagement throughout its operations.
The role of Event Coordinator at the Michaels store in Savannah, GA is a dynamic and engaging position dedicated to planning, coordinating, and facilitating various in-store events, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes. This position is pivotal in creating a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests, helping to foster memorable moments for clients of all ages, from young children to seniors. The Event Coordinator is responsible for overseeing multiple events simultaneously, ensuring every detail from planning and set-up to clean-up is seamlessly managed to meet company standards. By demonstrating craft projects, performing activities such as face painting, and facilitating event enhancements like goody bags and balloons, the coordinator plays a key role in enhancing the overall customer experience.
Additionally, this role involves providing excellent customer service throughout the store by assisting customers in locating products, educating them about loyalty programs, and ensuring fast and friendly checkout services. The Event Coordinator supports daily operational tasks including truck unloading, merchandise stocking, and planogram processes, contributing to store cleanliness and organization to uphold the brand’s reputation. Effective communication with clients and team members is essential, as well as completing administrative duties such as managing emails and phone calls related to events. Problem-solving, adaptability, and a strong ability to manage client feedback are critical in ensuring client satisfaction and successful event execution.
Ideal candidates will have exceptional interpersonal skills, experience working with children, and a passion for crafting and event planning. They must be able to handle the physical requirements of the role, including standing for extended periods, lifting, and moving inventory. This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive retail environment with a commitment to employee wellbeing and career development. Michaels offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. Michaels is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to inclusion and providing reasonable accommodations to support all employees in their roles.
