The role of Event Coordinator at Michaels in Hialeah, FL, combines creativity, customer service, and operational skills to deliver memorable and enjoyable experiences for guests. This position involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating a diverse range of events within the store, including children's birthday parties and craft classes, aimed at providing a stress-free, fun, and engaging environment. The Event Coordinator must be able to manage multiple events simultaneously, engaging clients of all ages—from young children to seniors—by fostering a welcoming and creative atmosphere that encourages participation and enjoyment. Beyond event management, the role also emphasizes exceptional customer service. The Event Coordinator assists customers throughout their shopping journey, helping them locate products, providing solutions, and ensuring a friendly, fast checkout experience. This multifaceted position also includes completing various operational duties such as truck unloading, merchandise stocking, and maintaining store presentation standards to uphold Michaels' brand promises.
In addition to hands-on event facilitation—which may include instructing guests in craft projects, face painting, and managing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons—the role requires strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and store team members. Administrative responsibilities encompass managing emails, phone communications, and necessary paperwork. Adaptability is crucial, as the coordinator must be able to adjust event plans based on client feedback, develop contingency strategies, and ensure client satisfaction for every scheduled event. Furthermore, maintaining the cleanliness and safety standards of the store before, during, and after events is part of the coordinator's responsibilities. The ideal candidate is energetic, enthusiastic, and skilled at multitasking in a fast-paced retail environment. Experience working with children and hosting children’s events is highly desirable. Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills, along with problem-solving abilities and retail or customer service experience, are essential for success in this role.
Physically, the position requires the ability to stand for long periods, move throughout the store, perform regular bending, lifting, carrying, and reaching tasks, and use ladders or similar equipment for accessing high shelves. The store environment is mostly climate controlled, though stockrooms and some outdoor areas may vary. Work hours include evenings, weekends, and early mornings, reflecting the retail nature of the business. The Event Coordinator position is ideal for creative, outgoing individuals who enjoy engaging with people while contributing to a vibrant community hub centered around craft and celebration.
