Established in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has become the go-to destination for creative enthusiasts and crafters of all levels. With a wide selection of products ranging from arts and crafts supplies to custom framing, Michaels fosters creativity and celebration, providing its customers with everything they need to bring their artistic visions to life. Michaels also owns Artistree, a manufacturer specializing in custom and specialty framing merchandise, further enhancing its offerings in the framing market. The company is committed to employee wellbeing, offering robust benefits including health insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, generous employee discounts, and more for both full-time and part-time team members. Michaels strives to create an inclusive, welcoming work environment where every team member and customer can create, innovate, and grow together.
The role of Event Coordinator at the Michaels store located in Allentown-Whitehall, PA, centers around planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events designed to offer memorable, stress-free, and engaging experiences for guests. This includes managing children's birthday parties and craft-related classes or events, ensuring that customers of all ages—from young children to seniors—enjoy an environment that nurtures creativity and fun. The Event Coordinator acts as the primary liaison between clients and the store, handling communications, making arrangements for party add-ons such as balloons and goody bags, and adapting event plans to meet client needs and feedback. Additionally, the coordinator demonstrates craft project techniques, performs face painting, and oversees the setup and cleanup processes to uphold company cleanliness and safety standards. Beyond event responsibilities, the role involves delivering excellent customer service by assisting shoppers, facilitating smooth checkout experiences, promoting the store's rewards program and private label credit cards, and supporting various operational tasks such as truck unloads and merchandise maintenance. Candidates for this role must demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, have experience working with children, and possess the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously in a dynamic retail setting. This position requires a positive, respectful attitude and the flexibility to work evening and weekend hours, creating a supportive and enjoyable atmosphere for customers and team members alike.
