The role of Event Coordinator at the Michaels store located in Allentown-Whitehall, PA, centers around planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events designed to offer memorable, stress-free, and engaging experiences for guests. This includes managing children's birthday parties and craft-related classes or events, ensuring that customers of all ages—from young children to seniors—enjoy an environment that nurtures creativity and fun. The Event Coordinator acts as the primary liaison between clients and the store, handling communications, making arrangements for party add-ons such as balloons and goody bags, and adapting event plans to meet client needs and feedback. Additionally, the coordinator demonstrates craft project techniques, performs face painting, and oversees the setup and cleanup processes to uphold company cleanliness and safety standards. Beyond event responsibilities, the role involves delivering excellent customer service by assisting shoppers, facilitating smooth checkout experiences, promoting the store's rewards program and private label credit cards, and supporting various operational tasks such as truck unloads and merchandise maintenance. Candidates for this role must demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, have experience working with children, and possess the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously in a dynamic retail setting. Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events including children's birthday parties and craft classes
  • Engage clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
  • Demonstrate and instruct craft projects and perform face painting
  • Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards
  • Communicate with clients and store team members regarding event details
  • Complete administrative tasks including emails, phone calls, and paperwork
  • Adjust plans based on client feedback and create backup plans
  • Ensure client satisfaction and uphold cleanliness and safety standards
  • Help customers shop and find products
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Promote rewards program and private label credit cards and complete enrollments
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
  • Assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store processes
  • Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and merchandise recovery
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and company policies
  • Remain positive and respectful with customers and team members
  • Cross-train in custom framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities
