Job Requirements
- Experience in warehousing work with forklift operation in a computerized inventory environment
- ability to maintain manual and computerized inventory records
- valid Class A Commercial California Driver's License with Haz-Mat, tanker, air brakes and manual transmission endorsements or ability to obtain within 1 year of appointment
- ability to work in inclement weather conditions
- flexibility to work varied and extended shifts with minimal or no notice
- ability to operate forklifts, cranes, boom trucks, tankers and other warehouse related equipment
- physical ability to perform warehousing tasks including loading, stocking and material handling
- knowledge of safety precautions and procedures
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to maintain cleanliness and order in warehouse and utility yard
- ability to undergo background check, drug/alcohol screening, and medical examination
- authorization to work in the United States.
Job Qualifications
- Experience performing general warehousing work involving the use of forklifts in a computerized inventory environment
- Knowledge of basic math
- knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and procedures
- knowledge of warehousing methods, procedures and terminology
- knowledge of common clerical procedures related to storekeeping
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- ability to operate vehicles and equipment while observing all safety, legal and defensive driving practices
- ability to read, understand and apply written and verbal procedures common to warehousing
- ability to operate a personal computer
- ability to operate forklifts and related lifting equipment
- ability to inspect materials, supplies, tools and equipment for conformance to receiving and requisitioning documents
- ability to understand pertinent procedures and functions quickly and apply them without immediate supervision
- ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Job Duties
- Receive shipments from vendors, check for quantity and quality of products, enter data into a computerized receiving and stocking system, and stock materials in correct bins
- Operate a utility toolroom, issue and maintain adequate inventory of specialized tools and protective gear
- Issue and credit material to all City Departments, using a financial and work order system
- Perform scheduled inventory counts to maintain accuracy levels
- Pull orders and issue tools, materials, supplies and equipment
- load material and equipment in trucks
- credit in and check for serviceability of returned materials, tools and equipment
- Deliver supplies requisitioned from warehouse
- deliver materials to utility crews at job sites
- fuel utility vehicles utilizing fuel tanker truck
- Inspect and maintain vehicles
- perform building and utility yard security inspections
- Operate forklifts, cranes, boom trucks, tankers, cable cutters, chain saws, blowers, hand tools, drills and other warehouse related equipment
- May assist crews in emergency situations, various construction, repair projects, and traffic management
- Maintain warehouse and utility yard in clean and orderly condition
- Maintain manual and computerized records and logs

- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
