The role of a Van Delivery Driver at Gordon Food Service Store provides a vital connection between the store and its wholesale customers. This position is responsible for ensuring courteous, on-time, and accurate deliveries of products along a variable daily route using a company van. The role demands professionalism, safety awareness, and meticulous attention to detail to maintain high standards while supporting store operations before or after delivery routes.
Day-to-day duties for Van Delivery Drivers include accurately locating and picking store orders for wholesale customers, building and maintaining strong customer relationships, and performing daily vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure operational safety and reliability. Drivers are expected to maintain a 'Customer is King' environment, delivering exceptional customer service to keep clients satisfied with timely and precise deliveries of GFS products.
In addition to delivery responsibilities, drivers contribute to the efficient operation of the store by processing customer purchases accurately, securing assets such as cash and merchandise, and maintaining high standards of merchandising. This includes product rotation, quality assurance, end cap and planogram execution, as well as organizing stock in freezers, coolers, and backrooms.
Candidates for this role should have at least one year of delivery driving experience and a year of related customer service experience. They must hold an unrestricted Standard Operator's License, have a clean driving record with no drug or alcohol offenses in the last five years, and be at least 18 years old. To ensure safety and reliability, candidates must pass pre-employment checks including drug screening, criminal background checks, and motor vehicle records. Physical capabilities include the ability to use a two-wheel cart with loads up to 350 pounds and to lift up to 70 pounds.
Gordon Food Service Store fosters an inclusive and respectful work culture, offering equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, veteran status, or disability. The company is committed to providing reasonable accommodations during the hiring process for applicants with disabilities and maintains a tobacco-free, drug-free workplace. Joining Gordon Food Service Store means becoming part of a team that values employees, customers, and their success, and is dedicated to creating a supportive and dynamic environment where careers can thrive.
