Job Description
WSI Trash & Recycling Valet is a family-owned, majority women-operated company founded in Utah in 2010, recognized for pioneering valet trash and recycling services in the multifamily housing industry. The company serves apartment communities across Utah, Nevada, and Idaho, providing reliable doorstep trash and recycling collection that enhances community cleanliness and resident convenience. WSI is committed to supporting its workforce, valuing its Porters as the backbone of the company and emphasizing quality training, respect, and a positive work environment. As an equal opportunity employer, WSI ensures that all qualified applicants receive fair consideration regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or veteran status.
This position is for a Part-Time Valet Porter based in the Layton area, offering short evening shifts that fit seamlessly into busy lifestyles. Shifts typically begin around 6:30 or 7:00 PM Monday through Friday and last between one to two hours, making it perfect for students, those seeking a second job, or anyone looking to supplement income without weekend commitments. The role involves independent work, walking assigned apartment communities to collect bagged trash, recycling, and cardboard from residents' doors and transporting it to designated dumpsters, chutes, or compactors. Porters separate recyclables, check for contamination, and maintain cleanliness around common areas while documenting their route and leaving courtesy notices via a mobile app. Occasionally, assistance with pet waste station servicing may also be required.
Candidates do not need prior experience as comprehensive training is provided, ensuring anyone who shows up ready to work can succeed. The position demands physical activity, including extensive walking, stair use, outdoor work in varying weather, and lifting items up to 50 pounds. A valid Utah driver’s license, auto insurance, and a smartphone with data and location services are required. At select sites where a personal open-bed pickup truck is necessary, pay increases to $25 per hour compared to the standard $20 per hour offered at other sites. Working independently with predictable, consistent routes fosters a stress-free environment without micromanagement. This opportunity offers competitive compensation, the stability of a regular schedule, and the flexibility of short evening shifts without weekend work, supporting a healthy work-life balance.
